Day 1 — Face It
Who's Really in Charge?
“Guard your heart with all vigilance, for from it are the sources of life.”
Today's Teaching
Hello friend. Let's start with a simple question: Who decides what gets your attention? You might think it's you, but sometimes our devices quietly take the lead. An alert flashes, a notification chimes, and suddenly, our focus shifts. This isn't about technology being bad. It's about recognizing that these tools are designed to grab our eyes and ears. We often react without even thinking. It's like our phone is always asking for our attention, and we've gotten used to just giving it, even if it pulls us away from something important, or someone we love, right in front of us. Today, let's just see this clearly.
Putting It Into Practice
Notice when an alert pulls your attention away. Pay attention to how quickly you react to your phone's demands.
Today's Challenge
For one hour today, keep your phone in a different room or out of sight. Just for one hour, see what happens.
Think About It
What did you notice about your own reactions when your phone wasn't right there?
Let's Pray
Heavenly Father, open my eyes today to see where my attention truly goes. Help me to understand what is controlling my focus. Give me wisdom to understand this challenge. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today's Takeaway
An alert is a suggestion, not an order.
