Day 1 — Face It
It's Okay to Ask 'Why?'
“For the music director, a psalm of David. How long, Lord, will you continue to ignore me? How long will you pay no attention to me? How long must I worry, and suffer in broad daylight? How long will my enemy gloat over me?”
Today's Teaching
When life hits us hard, our first response can often be a heart-cry of 'Why, God?' It's a natural, human reaction when pain or confusion enters our world. You might feel alone in this, but the Bible shows us many people, even deeply faithful ones, who asked God hard questions. Think of David in the Psalms. He often poured out his whole heart, including his confusion and sorrow, to God. He didn't hide his feelings or pretend everything was fine. God isn't scared of your questions, and He doesn't get angry when you're honest about your pain. In fact, He invites you to bring all of it to Him. Your questions are a way of saying you still believe He's there and able to hear you.
Putting It Into Practice
Don't bottle up your questions. God wants to hear your honest heart. Bringing your 'why' to Him is a form of trust, not doubt.
Today's Challenge
Today, write down one specific 'why' question that is heavy on your heart. Then, simply tell God about it, as if He is sitting right across from you.
Think About It
What does it feel like to honestly bring your 'why' question to God?
Let's Pray
Dear God, I bring my 'why' question to You today. It's heavy on my heart, and I don't understand. Help me to remember that You are good, even when things don't make sense to me. Thank You for hearing my honest heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today's Takeaway
God isn't afraid of my questions; He invites my honest heart.
