On the Days You Miss the Mark

My Child,

I see you. I see the striving, the good intentions, the earnest desire in your heart to walk closely with Me. And I also see those moments, those days, when you feel you've missed the mark, when the path feels less clear, or when your actions don't quite align with the love and truth I've poured into you. You carry a burden in those times, don't you? A sense of disappointment, a fear that you've let Me down, or perhaps even yourself.

But let Me tell you, My beloved, this is not a surprise to Me. I knitted you together in your mother's womb, knowing full well the beautiful, complex, and sometimes messy journey you would embark upon. I know your frame; I remember that you are but dust. From the very beginning, even before you took your first breath, I knew you would not be perfect. You carry the echoes of a fallen world, a struggle within your spirit that reaches for what is good and right, even as it sometimes stumbles.

It was never My expectation that you would achieve perfection on your own. If that were the case, what would be the purpose of My Son's great sacrifice? When you feel that sting of falling short, that ache of knowing you could have done better, remember that this very awareness is a gift. It's a sign that My Spirit is alive within you, calling you to something higher, nudging you towards My heart. It's not a condemnation, but an invitation. An invitation to lean into My grace, to remember the astounding truth that while you were still a sinner, Christ died for you. Your striving, as good as it is, will never earn My love, for My love is freely given. It's not a reward for your performance; it's the foundation of your very being.

Think of My servant Paul. He was a man consumed by zeal, passionate to serve Me. Yet, he openly admitted, "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do." He understood this human struggle deeply, this tension between the spirit's willingness and the flesh's weakness. And his answer was not to try harder in his own strength, but to cry out, "Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?" His hope, and yours, rested squarely on Jesus Christ, My Son. It is through Him that you have been set free from the law of sin and death. My grace is sufficient for you, My strength made perfect in your weakness.

So, when you miss the mark, do not linger in shame or self-condemnation. Do not allow the accuser to whisper lies about your worth or My patience. Instead, turn to Me. Confess what burdens your heart, not because I don't already know, but because speaking it out releases its power over you and deepens your trust in My unfailing love. Let My forgiveness wash over you, fresh and new each morning. And then, rise again. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and continue to walk with Me. Each stumble is not an end, but an opportunity to lean more heavily on My hand, to learn more about My boundless mercy, and to understand more deeply the freedom you have in Christ.

My desire is not for you to be flawless, but for you to be faithful – faithful in turning back to Me, faithful in embracing My grace, and faithful in extending that same grace to others, knowing that they too are on their own journey of learning to walk with Me.

Remember this, My child: your worth is not measured by your perfect aim, but by My perfect love for you. Always. My heart overflows with compassion for you, not judgment. Trust in My steadfast love, which covers a multitude of failings and paves the way for your renewed hope and joy.
