The Farmer Who Planted Before the Rain

The Farmer Who Planted Before the Rain

Preparation is one of the clearest expressions of faith. The farmer who plants before the rain teaches us that faith does not wait for proof before it obeys. It puts seed in the ground, trusts God with the timing, and believes that when the rain comes, what was planted in faith will not be wasted.

There is something powerful about a farmer who plants before he sees a cloud.

He walks out into the field while the ground is still dry. The sky may be clear. The air may feel still. There may be no sign of rain anywhere on the horizon. But he still takes seed in his hand and begins to plant.

To some people, that may look foolish.

Why work the field before the rain comes?

Why place seed in dry ground?

Why prepare when nothing has changed yet?

But the farmer understands something that many people miss. The rain does not prepare the field. The farmer does.

Rain can bless what has been planted, but it cannot grow what was never placed in the ground.

That is where faith becomes more than words.

Faith is not just saying, “I believe rain is coming.” Faith is preparing the field before the rain arrives. Faith is putting seed in the soil while the sky is still silent. Faith is doing what you can do now because you believe God will do what only He can do later.

Many people are waiting for the rain before they prepare.

They are waiting for the opportunity before they get ready. They are waiting for the door to open before they start walking. They are waiting for the blessing before they become faithful with what is already in their hands.

But preparation is faith in action.

Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is sharpen your tools, clear the field, plant the seed, make the call, write the plan, take the step, or start again.

Not because everything is perfect.

Not because you have all the answers.

Not because you can see the harvest.

But because you believe God still sends rain.

There are seasons when all you can do is plant in faith. You may not see results immediately. You may not hear applause. You may not feel anything changing. But something sacred happens when seed meets soil.

The hidden place matters.

The unseen season matters.

The quiet obedience matters.

Every harvest begins with something buried. Before there is fruit, there is faith. Before there is increase, there is investment. Before there is testimony, there is trust.

The farmer cannot control the rain, but he can control whether the field is ready when the rain comes.

That speaks to me.

I cannot control every season of my life. I cannot make every door open. I cannot force every dream to happen on my schedule. I cannot command the rain.

But I can prepare.

I can be faithful.

I can plant.

I can keep showing up with seed in my hand and trust that God knows how to water what He has called me to sow.

Sometimes we call it waiting, but God may be calling it preparation.

And sometimes the difference between a missed blessing and a multiplied blessing is whether we had seed in the ground when the rain finally came.

So plant before the rain.

Prepare before the breakthrough.

Believe before you see.

Because when the rain comes, it will not be time to start getting ready. It will be time for what you planted in faith to begin growing.

My Final Thought

Preparation is one of the clearest expressions of faith. The farmer who plants before the rain teaches us that faith does not wait for proof before it obeys. It puts seed in the ground, trusts God with the timing, and believes that when the rain comes, what was planted in faith will not be wasted.
